As some of you know, I no longer have Internet access in school after it got taken away from me while I was doing the "What's the top site that comes up when I enter the word ... In" competition...

So the other day after loading up the "Learning Resources" I was faced with the Intranet or Internet...and my choice was to click one...

well seen as all Internet data is set to route through to the computer name "disabled", I thought hey lets check out the intranet...

Next thing I know I'm given a series of options...hmm "Minutes".... let's check that out..

Next page that loads I am presented with the Head Of Department minute meeting notes for **** Comprehensive school, I had a little read and after about 2 lines in I realized that this DEFINITELY is supposed to be confidential, or at least hidden away.... The notes document recent exclusions, absences and matters of school concern...

I'm going to report this first thing Monday but a few people already have stated "ooh you've been hacking"... No it was perfectly legal, linked through and there wasn't anything suggesting I shouldn't look at it.. Hacking is gaining unauthorized access to files, there was nothing in place stating that I couldn't read that...

Hopefully my Internet access in school will be given back to me soon and I can stop boring myself senseless by checking out the Intranet site. So really it's their fault Wink if I had Internet access I wouldn't have been bored enough to click through to the Intranet site..

I wasn't too sure if maybe they wouldn't have minded that information being available anyway, but I checked with the Business Studies teacher and she confirmed that finding out about the recent suspension of 4 pupils over the recent dope smuggling incident is not something I should be reading.

I'm sure the IT technician will have yet another go at me for "looking round" but what should I do? Not tell anyone and not get told off for anything...or tell them that I think they might want to knock up the security just a notch yet get told off... I know my conscience is telling me I should tell them.

07th September Updated : Google is heavily indexing my site and my site is receiving far too much unwanted attention from the staff of my school

Sony Ericsson's latest desireable gadget reminded me so much of the gadget in Tomb Raider 2, effectivly it's a blob, you plug it in the back of the TV and it communicates with the phone wirelessly to display your images and sounds..

This reminded me so much of that scene in Tomb Raider 2 when she breaks into someone's house, whips out her panasonic phone (Obviously Ericsson lost the who gets to plug their products contract)... Snaps a few wires and plugs it in to the back of the TV and uses her phone and TV to do videophone and to download an e-mail... Now I was thinking at the time "hmm a Scart connector for phones, what a great idea" sure enough one comes out today.

The only thing is, Sony's gadget can only play pictures and MP3's.. it's not like it can do video phone or much else.... it's that which makes you sit down and think... What's the point in getting one? and to be honest I completely agree with that thought, to see pictures, there's no reall point when you can either see them on the phone or transfer them to the PC...

Shame but maybe the videophone TV idea will catch on one day in SE HQ.
But until then, we'll all spend weeks and weeks viewing pictures on TV, they just don't get it do they?

You know you're a geek when you sit there and think "hmm, I could so easily make a program to stop me from even having to bother to do that manually"

and so I did and so I am...

Last time I thought this was a couple of months back when I had 2 files,

File 1 : My updated source code file from school
&
File 2 : My updated source code file from home

Both files had changed and been modified. My first reaction was to open them both up in notepad, side by side and sit there, bored indefenitly and scan each line one by one for the sacred changes I had previously made (let alone having to work out which was the better line).

Day 2 of doing this and I thought hmm if I got my website to load both text files, read in a line, check if they both match and if they don't get it to display both lines from both files and wait for further input I'd be laughing out loud... and so 5 minutes later I made it... The code did get updated a little bit e.g I went OTT and got it to display the full file in an IFRAME and highlight the susipicious line numbers in a bright yellow with a span tag. The idea was simple and the program works well even to this day!

Today I had another one of those geek moments, apparantly we're to colour code our program listings to make like say comments red etc etc... so I thought hmm ASP to the rescue, needless to say I now have a very nice program to read in from a file, line by line, my program. The ASP page then detects whether or not the line contains a sacred comment "{ This is a comment }" and HTML FONT's it red..then I made my delays gray and the "Write on screen" lines in a nice green colour... Stats at the bottom tells me that "1505 Lines were coloured by the Matthew1471 Colorizer©"... With 1505 lines up for grabs would you liked to have colorized them manually? I think not!

Geekyness Justified
Most of you who know me will know that i've recently been paying more attention to the web server log files by making pretty graphs and things...

Today however there's one thing which made me laugh, was that someone got refered to my site by looking up "teen sexuality forum"... Ok so people are welcome to discuss that in the forum but aside from the forum "sexuality" on "TheTeenForum"... It isn't (not to my knowledge anyway) a "Teen Sexuality Forum" oh how it made me laugh.

other searches which people have been running are "individualityuk" and a search on my e-mail address, along with "teen forum"... Normality seems to be resuming at last :-)
