As some of you know, I no longer have Internet access in school after it got taken away from me while I was doing the "What's the top site that comes up when I enter the word ... In" competition...
So the other day after loading up the "Learning Resources" I was faced with the Intranet or Internet...and my choice was to click one...
well seen as all Internet data is set to route through to the computer name "disabled", I thought hey lets check out the intranet...
Next thing I know I'm given a series of options...hmm "Minutes".... let's check that out..
Next page that loads I am presented with the Head Of Department minute meeting notes for **** Comprehensive school, I had a little read and after about 2 lines in I realized that this DEFINITELY is supposed to be confidential, or at least hidden away.... The notes document recent exclusions, absences and matters of school concern...
I'm going to report this first thing Monday but a few people already have stated "ooh you've been hacking"... No it was perfectly legal, linked through and there wasn't anything suggesting I shouldn't look at it.. Hacking is gaining unauthorized access to files, there was nothing in place stating that I couldn't read that...
Hopefully my Internet access in school will be given back to me soon and I can stop boring myself senseless by checking out the Intranet site. So really it's their fault
if I had Internet access I wouldn't have been bored enough to click through to the Intranet site..
I wasn't too sure if maybe they wouldn't have minded that information being available anyway, but I checked with the Business Studies teacher and she confirmed that finding out about the recent suspension of 4 pupils over the recent dope smuggling incident is not something I should be reading.
I'm sure the IT technician will have yet another go at me for "looking round" but what should I do? Not tell anyone and not get told off for anything...or tell them that I think they might want to knock up the security just a notch yet get told off... I know my conscience is telling me I should tell them.
07th September Updated : Google is heavily indexing my site and my site is receiving far too much unwanted attention from the staff of my school
