I would be interested in hearing what bloggers think of twitter. I have had a request to provide more functionality linking BlogX to twitter. Does anyone have any comments? Either comment on this entry or message me in private by clicking the mail icon.

I have decided to release BlogX V2.0.
Though there are probably a few pages which are not fully 100% compatible with the XHTML standard I felt the original code was just too deprecated to leave as the current release.
The new version includes caching (pages should load quicker and your site should consume less bandwidth), XHTML standard support (your pages will render faster in modern browsers) and many many fixes. You can see most of the changes on the new change log at http://blogx.co.uk/Official/Changes.asp
Server error reports are at an all time low so the new version should be stable. Please report any problems you experience with it.
As always the new version of BlogX can be downloaded from http://blogx.co.uk/Download.asp.

The availability and speed of this website has recently improved and as a result the spam defenses are being tested a lot more.
The following changes have been made on this site (and will make it into the official download once a full rebuild is made)
1. I used "Date" and "Time" in a few tables.. This was very bad practice (both of these are reserved in SQL), I have learnt the errors of my ways and corrected this.
2. The spammers were clogging up the comments table with their spam which although this was not shown to outside users it was falsely making the CommentID value grow and grow with a big gap between real undeleted comment ID numbers. I have now made 2 tables. Comments and Comments_Unverified. This should also improve the speed as records in the comments table are now unchecked and new comments being added can be added quickly without having to re-load the whole comments table. I have since dropped the PUKValidated value.
3. Comment notification sent to users was using a real "From Address" so a lot of mail servers were sending back to me delivery notifications (I had 108 e-mail notices today).. this wasn't of much use to me or interest so I have now added the option for a "noreply" address to the config. This previously would have also been a slight privacy problem as a user wishing to find out a blog owners' e-mail address only had to comment and wait for the blog to e-mail him/her.
4. An option has been added to Mail.asp to check for banned addresses after it was reported to me that some spammers are using this to e-mail spam to the webmaster (a bit pointless that they do this given its limited audience but there we go).
All this should lead to a more optimized and faster BlogX and above all.. secure.

I have now removed all links to the old WinBlogX and now suggest everyone uses WinBlogX SNS.
Though I have only been fixing the odd bug in WinBlogX SNS and have not sat down and finished off the unimplemented features it still has all the old WinBlogX features and a few more (it will automatically retry posting if your server is down)!
I've been using WinBlogX SNS to make posts on this blog for a while and it is largely a better product.
You can, as always, download Matthew1471 products from http://matthew1471.co.uk/Downloads.asp or from its matthew1471.co.uk product page.
